You might not know that there are so many outdoor spaces across Liverpool City Region.
The River Mersey opening means that across Liverpool, Wirral and Sefton there are miles of coastline to enjoy. Crosby Beach offers a unique viewing point and is home to Antony Gormley's 100 cast-iron statues. At Crosby Beach visitors can see views of the nearby wind farms and passing ships and some of the finest sunsets.
Wirral boasts 8 beaches with four designated bathing areas. Other beaches nearby include Ainsdale near to Southport and Formby with impressive sand dunes and red squirrel woods
There are parks and gardens throughout the region including the 235 acre, Grade I listed Sefton Park, Princes, Calderstones Park and Stanley Park close to the city centre. In Wirral, Birkenhead Park was the first public funded municipal park and well-worth a visit. Favourites in Southport include ‘Rotten Row’ - home to the annual flower show and the Victorian Botanic Gardens.
When visiting Liverpool's outdoor spaces, please be respectful of the wildlife and others in the area. Please do not drop litter and if visiting coastal areas be sure to check tides and do not bathe on non-bathing beaches.
