Liverpool’s City Halls have announced a festive programme across three historic venues.
This December, Liverpool’s landmark venues - Liverpool Town Hall, St George’s Hall, and Croxteth Hall, will be brimming with festive cheer, offering a diverse programme of seasonal events for families, music lovers, and even canine companions.
Liverpool Town Hall will host Story Time with Santa, a magical experience where Father Christmas and Buddy the Elf share festive tales and songs in the cosy surroundings of the historic building. A sensory-friendly session will also be available. Story Time with Santa runs on selected dates from Saturday 6 to Wednesday 24 December.
Liverpool Town Hall will also welcome guests for two Candlelight Concerts in November and December, offering an elegant evening of seasonal music in a heritage setting.
On Sunday 7 December, St George’s Hall will host its seasonal Christmas market, transforming the inside space into a bustling festive hub with over 80 independent traders and local artisans offering a wonderful selection of art, crafts, homeware, and unique gifts. It will take place from 10am to 4.30pm.
Following last year’s sold-out success, the Great Hall will once again welcome audiences on Wednesday 3 and Wednesday 10 December for Carols by Lantern Light - a magical evening featuring Professor Ian Tracey, the ever-popular soloist Danielle Thomas, and a classical choir. Together, they’ll bring timeless Christmas classics to life under the soft glow of lantern light.
Silent Night: A Silent Disco Wonderland (over 18s only) returns on Saturday 6 December with three channels with a playlist of dancefloor hits, festive visuals, and a lively party atmosphere. Earlier that day, families can enjoy Disco Kids: The Ultimate Family Disco, a high-energy silent disco designed especially for children and their grown-ups.
Croxteth Hall will once again welcome Santa Paws, a festive event for dogs and their owners. Set in a specially designed grotto, pets can meet Santa Paws, receive a gift and a treat, and pose for a seasonal photo. Santa Paws runs on selected dates from Saturday 13 to Sunday 21 December, with bookable slots and walk-ins welcome.

This festive programme forms part of the Liverpool’s wider Christmas offer, which includes the return of the Christmas Markets outside St George’s Hall, running from Saturday 15 November to Wednesday 24 December, 11am to 10pm each day. More details about what residents and visitors can expect this festive season will be announced in the coming weeks.
Harry Doyle, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Culture, said:
“Over the past few years, our festive programme across Liverpool City Halls has gone from strength to strength, with thousands of residents and visitors joining us to celebrate the season in some of the city’s most treasured spaces. The response has been incredible, and it’s clear these events have become a much-loved part of Liverpool’s Christmas calendar.
This year’s expanded programme is a brilliant addition to the wider city offer - bringing together heritage, creativity and community in a way that’s uniquely Liverpool. Whether it’s candlelit carols, storytelling with Santa, or festive discos with the family, these events showcase the magic of our historic venues and the warmth of our city at Christmas.”
Angie Redhead, Head of Operations, Culture Liverpool, said:
“Last year’s Carols by Lantern Light was an overwhelming success, selling out within days and capturing the hearts of audiences across the city. We’re delighted to bring it back this year with an additional date, giving even more people the chance to enjoy the magic of traditional live music in the breathtaking, candlelit surroundings of St George’s Hall.
“We’re also proud to see our legacy events evolving in scale and ambition. The Christmas Carol, usually staged in the Concert Room, will take centre stage in the Great Hall for the very first time - bigger, bolder, and reimagined with a new immersive centre-stage experience that brings Dickens’ timeless story to life like never before.
“These events celebrate the richness of tradition while creating unforgettable moments for new generations, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors.”
