One of the fastest growing independent film festivals in the world, taking place December 2025.

LIVIFF looks to find the most bold and inventive stories that the independent film community has to offer, to screen in the birthplace of the Beatles and a city of rich culturally creative history and passion. With the ambition to match the city’s cool and artistic identity, LIVIFF is an international film festival with credibility and integrity and is a proud associate of The Manchester film festival.

LIVIFF2025 will welcome the best and up and coming filmmakers from around the world to showcase their work on the cinema screen that will provide the perfect platform to see the films how they are meant to be seen. All films for the 2025 edition will be screened in cinemas.

LIVIFF is a festival that takes pride in providing a platform for independent filmmakers to showcase their work to the public free of charge to enhance local engagement. LIVIFF looks to create a welcoming event that allows filmmakers the chance to get their art seen and their individual voices heard.

Featuring great talent and special guests from the film industry, Liverpool Indie Awards is striving to promote short film-making. They ensure and encourage good content from outside the mainstream film industry. Coming to you from across a wide range of genres and styles and in the most inclusive way: from narrative to experimental; documentaries to animation and also music videos. They want to represent the independent film making face of the world and give opportunities to worldwide filmmakers to screen your films on a big cinema canvas.

The aim of our festival is to raise awareness and promote the various aspects of international cinema in all its forms. We celebrate filmmakers who challenge the conventional way of filmmaking.

Filmmakers will have plenty of opportunity to network with other film creatives at a festival that is known as a relaxed, filmmaker friendly event in a city that can offer an experience to attendees beyond the festival itself.

Let’s Make Films Presents: The Sandbox Showcase is an exciting evening dedicated to celebrating short films from some of the most talented filmmakers in the North West of England. This event is designed to give both new and established filmmakers a platform to present their work in front of a live audience, bringing together creativity, community, and cinema under one roof at Liverpool’s renowned Picturehouse @ FACT.
 

Expect a night full of diverse storytelling, with a range of genres and themes, each film offering a fresh perspective and unique voice. Whether you’re a fan of drama, comedy, documentary, or experimental films, this showcase has something for everyone. Filmmakers will also have the opportunity to discuss their projects in post-screening Q&A sessions, offering valuable insights into their creative process and the challenges they faced during production.

 

Beyond the screenings, The Sandbox Showcase aims to foster connections and spark collaborations within the local film community. Attendees will have the chance to network with filmmakers, share ideas, and build relationships that could lead to future projects.

 

This event is part of Let’s Make Films’ ongoing mission to support and promote local filmmakers, offering a stage where new talent can be discovered and celebrated. Join us for a memorable evening of film, conversation, and community.
