Liverpool’s iconic Magical Mystery Tour has once again claimed the top spot in Tripadvisor’s prestigious Travelers’ Choice® Best of the Best Things To Do Awards 2026, ranking number one in the UK, fourth in Europe, and fifth worldwide.
Operated by Cavern City Tours, owners of the world‑famous Cavern Club, the Magical Mystery Tour is the longest‑running Beatles sightseeing tour in the UK and has been welcoming visitors from across the globe for more than 43 years. The tour celebrates the city’s unique musical heritage by telling the story of the Beatles’ formative years through the places that inspired them.
The award places the Magical Mystery Tour alongside some of the world’s most renowned travel experiences, including Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail, Edinburgh Castle, Loch Ness, and leading cultural tours in cities such as Barcelona.
Jon Keats, Director of The Cavern Club, said:
“We are incredibly proud that the Magical Mystery Tour continues to be recognised as one of the very best experiences not just in the UK, but anywhere in the world. For more than four decades, our guides, drivers and team have been sharing Liverpool’s story with Beatles fans from every corner of the globe, and this award is a huge credit to their passion, knowledge and commitment.”
The announcement was made today by Tripadvisor®, the world’s largest travel guidance platform, as part of its annual Travelers’ Choice ® Awards: Best of the Best Things To Do. The awards recognise the highest‑rated experiences worldwide, based on millions of independent reviews and ratings from Tripadvisor’s global community over a 12‑month period.
Commenting on the awards, Laurel Greatrix, Chief Communications Officer for Tripadvisor Group, said:
“This is hard‑won recognition, shaped by millions of travelers who booked, showed up, and rated what was actually worth their time. There’s a clear theme in this year’s winners: they bring out what makes a destination unique. These aren't experiences that simply fill an itinerary — they're the experiences that give you a better way to understand a place.”
Previously awarded Best of the Best in 2024 in the Cultural and Historical Attractions category, the Magical Mystery Tour has continued to rise through the global rankings, moving from 8th to 5th worldwide, and now achieving 4th place in Europe.
Carrying more than 80,000 passengers each year, the Magical Mystery Tour plays a significant role in Liverpool’s £6.25bn visitor economy, reinforcing the city’s status as one of the world’s leading cultural tourism destinations.
Jon Keats added:
“The Beatles put Liverpool on the map, and this tour allows us to celebrate that legacy in an authentic, entertaining and proudly local way. Seeing visitors experience the city through the music we grew up with is something that never gets old.”
