A city of stars. A Cathedral of light. This Christmas, Liverpool Cathedral will be transformed through breathtaking projections, music and storytelling as Luxmuralis presents the world premiere of Noël.
Running from 27 November to 5 December, the new production will take visitors on an immersive journey through Christmas memories, music and the Nativity story, culminating with thousands of stars created by local schoolchildren.
Following years of sold-out success, Liverpool Cathedral’s much-loved Christmas light and sound tradition returns with a new production from the internationally acclaimed Luxmuralis team.
Visitors will journey through the Cathedral as its monumental arches, ceilings and stonework become a living canvas.
Nostalgic festive scenes and reworkings of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker will fill the Well, evoking treasured memories of Christmases past. In the Nave, spectacular projections will bring the Nativity story to life, accompanied by a new interpretation of The First Noël.
At the heart of this years’ experience will be Constellation, a new installation bringing together thousands of stars created by schoolchildren from across the Liverpool City Region.
Each star will carry a message of hope or reflection, forming a galaxy of young voices within the Cathedral and inviting visitors to consider their own hopes for Christmas and the year ahead.

That uniqueness come from the way we create these installations, in what is one of the largest indoor immersive creative experiences in the world.”
Visitors can complete their Christmas experience at the Welsford Bistro, which will serve a festive menu inspired by the warmth and flavours of traditional Christmas markets.
Noël runs at Liverpool Cathedral from 27 November to 5 December.
