Wyld Sauna, the UK’s first-ever public floating sauna, will open in the heart of Liverpool at Princes Dock on Saturday 23rd November and bookings are live.

Home to a luxurious facility, Wyld Sauna has landed in the city ahead of opening, with a 30-person sauna, four ice baths, two cold waterfall showers, four heated outdoor showers equipped with salt rubs, beautiful changing rooms complete with opulent finishes, as well as direct access into the water at Princes Dock for a refreshing post-sauna dip. Luxury changing rooms will also see guests utilise Dyson hair dryers, lockers, mirrors and swimsuit dryers for ease when completing their visit.

Created by long-time friends and sauna enthusiasts, Jon Miller and Tom Berendsen, both 42, this unique experience blends the serenity of nature with the urban vibrancy of the city, offering a space for connection and relaxation. Jon has a background in architecture and a passion for saunas and cold water swimming, and designing and building Wyld Sauna has allowed him to blend his love for wellness with his design expertise. Meanwhile, Tom has always made saunas a part of his daily life thanks to his Dutch heritage and father Henk, who instilled the love of saunas and its benefits within their family.

Wyld, which is an official member of the British Sauna Society, brings the traditional Nordic sauna experience to modern urban living, creating a communal environment that’s accessible to everyone. Wyld Sauna is situated on Princes Dock as part of Liverpool Waters and is open to all. From novices to long-time devotees, it’ll provide the perfect location to take a break from everyday life. Whether it’s for mental clarity or physical relaxation, Wyld Sauna’s community can embrace the benefits of hot and cold therapy and find their calm, allowing the stresses of life to simply melt away with each visit.

Floating on water, Wyld Sauna offers breathtaking views of Liverpool’s skyline, fusing Scandinavian tradition with the pulse of the city. Crafted from Thermal Alder, the sauna is also naturally antimicrobial, free from chemicals, and cool to the touch—ensuring both comfort and environmental friendliness. Each visit will be unique to each individual guest and carving their own experience is encouraged. Some guests will enjoy a cold water swim, whilst others will prefer basking in the deeply rejuvenating heat. Each visit will include access to all facilities so that everyone can decide what they’d prefer to experience, allowing them to breathe and unwind.

In recent years, Princes Dock has become a popular natural swimming spot, attracting a growing community of open-water enthusiasts since achieving an ‘Excellent’ rating from the Environment. The dock is fitted with four oxygen pumps to maintain water cleanliness, and the area is regularly tested to ensure optimal swimming conditions. The water reaches a depth of approximately 2 meters, providing a safe and refreshing plunge. Life guards will be on site at Wyld to ensure the safest possible environments.

Jon Miller, Co-Founder of Wyld Sauna, explained:

"We’ve always believed in the power of saunas—not just for physical health, but for building community and creating moments of calm in our busy lives. Wyld is our way of making that experience accessible to as many people as possible. Our mission is to bring the best of the Nordic sauna tradition to Liverpool, where anyone can come, unwind, and reconnect—whether it’s their first sauna or their hundredth."

Tom Berendsen, Co-Founder, added:

”Princes Dock is the perfect setting for Wyld. Being on the water adds another layer to the experience, with the city skyline on one side and the calm of the dock on the other. It’s a place where nature and urban life meet, which is exactly what Wyld is all about. We’re very excited to be opening the UK’s first floating sauna, right here in the heart of this beautiful city that’s steeped in heritage and culture.”

Liza Marco, Senior Asset Manager for Liverpool Waters commented:

“We are very excited for Wyld to open at Princes Dock next month. It is the perfect location for such a fantastic and luxurious experience on the water, surrounded by some of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings. Princes Dock is a popular and growing destination with more people now living and working there, and an increasing number of visitors to its bars, cafes, restaurants, and hotels. Wyld Sauna will be a great addition to the Dock alongside the open water swimming, canoeing and yoga already on offer there and we look forward to seeing everyone enjoying themselves in this fabulous location.”

To celebrate the launch of Wyld, there are exclusive pre-booking packages. Early sign-ups through the website can take advantage of the intro packages ‘Wyld Cards’, making Wyld an affordable addition to daily routines.
