Aperol Spritz Cocktail and Pornstar Martini at HUS

Everyone loves a good beverage. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a tipple mid-week or somewhere to let your hair down at the weekend, we’ve put together a list of our favourite bars that serve up a boss cocktail, because ...it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere, right?

Lets get to it then.

Be At One

11-13 Seel Street, Liverpool, L1 4AU

If you love cocktails then Be At One is where you want to be. With over 100 cocktails on the menu from a Zombie to an Aperol Spritz, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Dance under the neon lighting after a few Espresso Martinis and enjoy the party tunes. Tip… the DJ takes requests.

Baltic Market

Cains Brewery, Stanhope Street, L8 5XJ

A little bit different to your average ‘bar’- Baltic Market is an incredible Street Food market located in Liverpool’s former ‘Cains Brewery.’ Its more of a casual place, so don’t worry about being too dressed up here. Live music, good drinks and an even better atmosphere. Winner.

The Alchemist

5 Brunswick Street, Liverpool, L2 0UU

Ever seen your mate post one of those videos on Instagram of their cocktail seemingly on fire, inside a testube? That was probably at the Alchemist. Located just off Castle Street in a beautifully ornate building, the Alchemist has an extensive cocktail menu that doesn’t keep it simple.

Super fun cocktails last night

Kazimier Garden

32 Seel Street, Liverpool, L1 4BE

There’s not many ways to describe this place, other than pretty special. Surrounded by overbearing modern developments, Kaz garden is a bit like an old, beautiful pirate ship, sitting doing its thing. Delicious street food, live music, DJs, fruit beer and decent priced drinks. Kaz garden is a little space of happiness in the city.

Jenever

29a Hope Street, Liverpool, L1 9BQ

If you enjoy a gin in sophisticated surroundings, then head up to Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter to Jenever. A fabulous, contemporary Gin Bar. Over 120 types of gin and speciality jenevers will keep the gin lover pleased. While if gin isn’t your tipple, Jenever also serve beers, cocktails and wine.

Crazy Pedros

25 Parr Street, Liverpool, L1 4JN

Tucked around the corner of Seel Street, Crazy Pedros pumps out classic tunes, serves gin in a tin AND pizzas with big macs on until the morning. Need anymore info? I don’t think so.

Jenny's

Fenwick Street, Liverpool, L2 7NT

Back in the Commercial District, just around the corner from the Alchemist actually is Jennys. Just look for the chip shop. Head downstairs and get lost in the prohibition era. Come here if you’re looking for a superb quality cocktail.

Botanical Garden

49 New Bird Street, Liverpool, L1 0DN

We’re back  in the Baltic Triangle for this one. Botanical Garden is housed in a former scrap yard. As you can see, upcycled is the theme here, alongside delicious botanical tipples. Its only open for part of the year, so be sure to check before you go. You really need to go to appreciate this place and its quirky decor.

h1780 Tap & Still

62-64 Bridgewater Street, Liverpool, L1 0AY

We are staying in the Baltic Triangle again! (!!!) this time, at h1780 Tap and Still. It’s actually still a working brewery (Higsons founded in Liverpool in 1780) and offers a ‘ginsmiths’ tour of the premises.

MacKenzies

32 Rodney Street, Liverpool, L1 2TP

We’re looking at Whisky now in MacKenzies. We’re in the Georgian Quarter again. MacKenzies is a lovely place to relax with friends, watch sports, enjoy live music and over 300 of the world’s finest whiskies.

Most Days.

Peaky Blinders Bar

Cains Brewery Village, Stanhope Street, Liverpool L8 5XJ

If you’re a fan of the Peaky Blinders, then this place should be high on your list. A huge former warehouse in Liverpool’s Cains Brewery village, giant copper vats, real-life peaky blinders and live music gives this place a unique and enjoyable atmosphere.

Alma De Cuba

St Peter's Church, Seel Street, Liverpool, L1 4BH

A place for civilised cocktails and samba afternoon tea in the daytime, Alma De Cuba becomes the ultimate home of the party at night. Incredible dancers dressed head to toe in Cuban outfits, giant head dresses and jewels grace the stage. If you fancy yourself as a dancer, revellers are also welcome onto the stage. Make sure you stay around for the petal shower.

Some Place

43 Seel Street, Liverpool, L1 4AZ

Not a place for the faint hearted, Some Place is an absinthe bar in the heart of Liverpool’s nightlife scene, Seel street. Expect low lighting and eclectic music. Water dispensers on the bar are welcome alongside an extensive absinthe lead cocktail menu.

The Florist

24 Hardman Street, Liverpool, L1 9AX

This is probably the most insta-worthy bar in Liverpool.  As you can tell from the title, a florist/botanical theme runs throughout this bar and restaurant located within a former School for the Blind. Flower walls, fragrant cocktails and an extensive food menu that includes brunch and a delicious Sunday Roast. There’s also live music at the weekend and outdoor seating that overlooks the city.

81 LTD

81 Seel Street, Liverpool, L1 4BB

Above Salt Dogs (only for those in the know) is its alter-ego, a hidden bar which only reveals itself if you know the secret passcode. And even then, you have to hunt around for the entrance door. It’s all very theatrical (and based on similar models in Manhattan, where telephone boxes double as club entrances), and perfect for those seeking a delicious twist of mystery to their night on the town.

Revolucion De Cuba

Royal Albert Dock, 22 Edward Pavilion, Liverpool, L3 4AF

Cuban, Cocktails and Rum. The two storey rum bar has outdoor seating in one of the city's best suntraps overlooking the Albert Dock. You're already loving it? IT gets better. They've a fine selection of tiki style cocktails taking you to the beach!

Get the Fiesta going with some Latin inspired Cantina and Cuban classic Cuba Libre; Bacardi Carta Oro rum, with lime and Coca Cola. The fruit salad teapot is also perfect for sharing!

Goodness Gracious

Enter via Oh Me Oh My, Rooftop, West Africa House, 25 Water Street, L2 0RG

No, we're not shocked it's just the next place on the list. The Goodness Gracious roof garden is probably now one of the worst kept secrets. It overlooks the famous Three Graces and resides on the roof of a former bank building at the bottom of Water Street.

Neighbourhood

62 Castle Street, Liverpool, L2 7LQ

Ideally located next door to 62 Castle Street Hotel for those who are looking for somewhere nearby to crash! Neighbourhood brings neon signs, classy interiors and an impressive drinks menu. Come evening time, DJs take to the upper balcony, there’s live musicians and singers and there will definitely be space for dancing later on.

Pen Factory

13 Hope Street, Liverpool, L1 9BQ

The Pen Factory is the perfect place for a chilled out small plates lunch. There’s loads of specially selected cask ales, continental lagers, wine, cocktails and the most importantly, Prosecco. Inside it might look like they've forgotten to paint the walls/cover up the water pipes; but na, it's just the style๐Ÿ˜‰

There's a cute little outside space too, complete with twinkly lights that make it look like something out of Harry Potter or something. There's no pens, but there's a load of board games?

Buyers Club

24 Hardman Street, Liverpool, L1 9AX

It's not far from Pen Factory and it also has twinkly lights! There's a restaurant, a bar, garden and music and also, if you love their natural wine as much as we do, you can buy it from them to take home because they're an off license too; YES.

Often they have live music in their little intimate gig space, if you can catch a band there, you should.

Even on these very cold winter nights our garden can look beautiful! ๐Ÿ“ธ @hannahmetcalfe

Castle Stree Townhouse

Castle Street, Liverpool, L2 7LQ

Inside is super sleek and shiny. Its near to the business quarter, so there's normally some gents in suits that have got off early. Anyway the best bit has got to be the Breakfast Cocktails; BLUEBERRY MUFFIN; Absolut blue, gingerbread syrup, blueberry jam, cranberry and lemon juice. There's also a Bloody Mary or just a classic Champagne and Orange for those who are a little more traditional.

Berry and Rye

48 Berry Street, Liverpool, L1 4JQ

Sometimes, you need to get away from the crowd and find a secret spot. Berry and Rye is a hidden gem which combines whisky, blues, jazz and gin. Open seven nights a week, it's a modern speakeasy. Just on the edge of Ropewalks, in Liverpool's Chinatown. There's a secret black door to enter. It can be hard to find at first, but knock and if you're lucky, you'll get in.

Red Door

21-23 Berry Street, Liverpool, L1 9DF

A late night cocktail bar on Berry Street. Just look out for the ‘red door.’ Think low lighting, high ceilings, classy cocktails and no trainers. Ask the bar team for advice on cocktails if you’re not sure. There’s also an outdoor terrace for the warmer days or nights!

Santa Chupitos

41 Slater St, Liverpool L1 4BX

You can find Santa Chupitos on the corner of the cobbled Seel Street in the Ropewalks area. Inside, the bar has a quirky yet cosy feel. They offer their own twist on classic cocktails from Passion Fruit Zombies to Bacon and Maple Old Fashioned. However, we’d definitely recommend starting off by trying their famous ‘5 Dollar Shake’... Vodka, Chambord, blueberries and ice cream all shaken up and served in a milk bottle = HEAVEN!

El Bandito

41B Slater Street, Liverpool, L1 4BX

So one or two cocktails have turned into five or six? We understand, it happens to the best of us! El Bandito is open later than most in the city, tucked away under Santa Chupitos on Seel Street. It’s a cosy basement bar, open from 9pm-3am on a weeknight and until 5am on a weekend. Perfect for those of you that love staying out until the early hours! PLUS they run Happy Hour every day from 8-12pm… Winner! Their cocktails are mainly tequila or mezcal based, we would recommend trying their Blended Margarita.

HUS

Tempest Bulding, 12 Tithebarn Street, L2 2DT

You'll notice the scandi vibes as soon you walk through the door at HUS. Benches, giant beer vats and exposed roof and concrete walls. Its a little out the way and on its own compared to other bars on our list, but worth it for a more relaxed vibe. They've also got a rooftop that opens when the weather's lookin' fine.

We've done the hard work now its time for you to enjoy. Missed off your favourite bar? Then let us know in the comments.
