Trying to find places to eat when you’re on a vegan or vegetarian diet can be difficult so we have put together a list of some of the best places to go to enjoy all the natural goodness. Whether its a light snack, a junk food indulgence or a good old English breakfast, we’ve found something for everyone. 


DOWN THE HATCH 


Down The Hatch on Duke Street is a favourite amongst local vegans and vegetarians as they take classic junk food like burgers, hotdogs and loaded fries and give them a vegan twist. With a menu that is 80% vegan, allowing for a few halloumi fries, there is no meat in sight in this basement restaurant but the biggest meat eaters around have been known to enjoy one of their famous Seiten Burgers with no fuss. Its junk food with a little less guilt!  


FAT HIPPO


If you’re in the mood for a burger then Fat Hippo on Bold Street is certainly worth a visit. Choose from five different plant based burgers, each served with amazing toppings on a vegan brioche bun and hand cut chips. They also do a range of vegan starters too including vegan frickles, vegan dirty waffles and vegan nachos. 


BREWDOG


Brewdog not only has a huge selection of delicious beers on tap and in the fridge but they also offer a pretty special vegan menu too. From southern fried seitan, bbq seitan steak, buffalo cauliflower burger to beyond meat burgers you’ll be able to indulge in something here. They also have a special Monday offer with 2-4-1 on all vegan and veggie mains! 


WOO TAN SCRAN


You can only access Woo Tan Scran's tasty Plant based chippy dishes from the dark kitchen via Deliveroo or collection from their friends at Down the Hatch. Dig into all your favourite Chinese dishes but with a plant based twist!


THE EGG CAFE


As one of the first establishments dedicated to vegetarian and vegan food in Liverpool, The Egg Cafe offers a classic home made menu of soups, salads, burgers and cakes in a laid back bohemian style loft in a listed building off Bold Street. On a Sunday they even offer a full vegan roast dinner, sign us up!


BUNDOBUST


Inspired by the vibrant and varied street foods of India, Bundobust on Bold Street is the perfect place to try a multitude of vegan and veggie indian dishes with a modern twist. You can pick you own items off the menu you could go right in there and order the banquet to sample everything on the menu. 


MOWGLI


A huge success in Liverpool, the Indian street food restaurant, Mowgli has taken the local curry scene by storm with not one but two venues in the city. With their flagship store residing on Bold Street and a larger venue on Water Street by Liverpool’s Town Hall, they offer a vegan menu featuring some of the restaurant’s classic street food and tiffin boxes. The Holy Chow and Mowgli Chip Butty are a must for any visiting vegan. 


SANSKRUTI


Another brilliant hidden basement gem, you can find vegan and vegetarian Indian restaurant Sanskruti on Bixteth Street in the Business District of Liverpool. Serving authentic cuisine from every corner of India, including street food, curries and naan bread big enough to feed a small town, Sanskruti is a firm choice for a traditional vegan Indian banquet. 


ORGANICO


Organico Juice Bar and Eatery on Bold Street serves uncomplicated vegan and vegetarian foods sourced locally. From specialty coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch, superfood juices and smoothies and beautiful handmade cakes.


DUKE STREET MARKET


Duke Street Food and Drink Market have a whole host of independent food traders for you to pick from on your next visit. With a dedicated vegan menu available you’ll be able to easily see what is on offer from each stall. From salads to cubanos, ramen and pizza, there’s lots of choice.


MARAY


Maray on Bold Street is a brilliant place to go when your party is a mix of vegan and meat eaters. Their separate vegan menu offers a range of small plates to die for inspired by flavours from around the globe. From sweet potato wedges to braised rice and lentils, Maray boasts a plentiful and eclectic vegan menu that’s sure to get you drooling. 


THE VIBE


A stone's throw away from Liverpool ONE, The Vibe is the perfect place to grab a full vegan breakfast, a light lunch or enjoy a cake and a hot drink.


PEABERRY COFFEE HOUSE AND KITCHEN


Whether you’re visiting from breakfast, brunch or lunch, Peaberry’s colourful menu is guaranteed to offer your new favourite meal. Choose from Akuri with scrambled tofu and diced red onions, a vegan breakfast with roast portobello mushrooms and sliced avocado, or for something a little lighter, enjoy a smoothie bowl with fresh fruit or a crunchy granola bowl.  


MADRE


For a taste of Mexico, head to Madre and indulge in their Cabbage and Pepper Toreados, made with pan roasted cabbage, grilled peppers, peanut butter, miso and salsa macha. While you’e waiting, opt for a few nibbles including kikones alongside Guac and Chips smashed with lime juice.


ROSA'S THAI CAFE


With a bountiful menu offering vegan alternatives to classic Thai staples, Rosa’s Thai is a must for anyone wanting to tuck into some gorgeous greens. Feast on sharing platter filled with favourites like Fresh Summer Rolls, before enjoying a hearty helping of Veg and Tofu Stir Fried Flat Noodles.


THE ART SCHOOL


Paul Askew and his team at The Art School have a whole range of vegan and vegetarian menus for you to try. From tasting menus to Prix Fixe menus and the Menu Excellence, there are beautiful dishes for everyone to try.


RUDY'S PIZZA


Indulge in a slice of heaven at the dock’s newest venue, Rudy’s Pizza. The traditional pizzeria serves up the Marinara, made with delicious San Marzano tomatoes, garlic, oregano and basil. For an alternative, keep your eye on their specials board, which always has a rotating vegan pizza offering. You can also find Rudy's venues on Castle Street and Bold Street in Liverpool.


LUNYALITA


A firm favourite in Liverpool thanks to its mouth-watering Spanish cuisine, Lunyalita has a dedicated vegan menu complete with a variety of snacks, breads and olives, a traditional vegetable paella or tapas options, perfect for those wanting to try a bit of everything, such as pan fried tender stem broccoli, padron peppers, patatas bravas and cauli ‘wings’ with hot buffalo sauce.
