Liverpool Everyman

About

The new Everyman is a reincarnation of the 400-seat theatre with its dynamic ‘thrust’ auditorium, including a rehearsal room, workshops, sound studio, Writers’ Room, and a special studio dedicated to Young Everyman Playhouse, education and community groups. Above the iconic red sign, the exterior features 105 portraits of people from across Merseyside forming a unique piece of public art in an exceptionally green and accessible building.

With a history of providing Liverpool with radical ground-breaking theatre, the Everyman was founded in 1964 in an area of Liverpool noted for its bohemian environment and political edge. The astonishing range of talent to emerge from the Everyman includes Julie Walters, Bernard Hill, Jonathan Pryce, Pete Postlethwaite, Alison Steadman, Antony Sher, Bill Nighy, Alan Bleasdale, Willy Russell, Barbara Dickson, Matthew Kelly, Cathy Tyson, David Morrissey, Stephen Graham and the Liverpool Poets.

Its sister theatre is the Playhouse in Williamson Square and together they offer a programme of home grown work and the best in touring theatre.
