About

The Museum of Liverpool has re-opened following the lockdown period.

They have been working hard to welcome you back safely, so you'll notice a few changes around the museum.

The capacity of visitors allowed within the building has been reduced. When you visit, you will see signage suggesting one-way routes, information about enhanced cleaning procedures and hand sanitiser stations at key points. The shop  is open, operating a contactless payment method, though the museum café is closed. Interactive touch points in exhibitions and displays are also closed.

The Museum remains free to enter, but it is necessary to pre-book a ticket online. When you do, you will have to choose a time to visit.

The Museum of Liverpool is the world’s first national museum devoted to the history of a regional city and the largest newly-built national museum in Britain for more than a century. In 2018, it marked 10 years on Liverpool’s UNESCO World Heritage Site waterfront and 10 years of representing Liverpool’s unique and interesting history.

Enjoy accessible and engaging exhibits showcasing Liverpool’s popular culture, hop on board the overhead railway and discover social, historical and contemporary issues associated with the city region.

More than 6,000 objects bring Liverpool’s incredible heritage to life, celebrating thousands of years of the city’s achievements.

Exhibits include Ben Johnson’s Liverpool Cityscape, a life-size Liverbird, the King’s Regiment archive, local archaeology collection and fascinating large objects in the Land Transport collection. Book a place in Little Liverpool and introduce your youngest children to the wonders of the Museum of Liverpool and check out the latest temporary exhibitions.

Head to the skylight galleries for an unmissable sweeping view of the Three Graces - this window actually won ‘Best window with a view’ - so is definitely worth a stop off.
