About

Old Dock TourExplore Liverpool’s hidden maritime history with an Old Dock Tour – a fascinating insight into the world’s first commercial enclosed wet dock. Embarking from the Maritime Museum with your friendly tour guide, you’ll discover how this innovative feat of engineering changed the city’s destiny forever. Go deep underneath Liverpool ONE to unearth the original dock wall, rising more than 20 feet from the bed of the Pool – the stream that gave Liverpool its name. Once underground, you’ll walk along modern walkways and peer over a newly constructed bridge to be transported back in time: with the sights and sounds of the 18th century dock playing out in front of you.National Museums Liverpool’s Old Dock Tours are a must for anybody fascinated by history and maritime heritage. The tour focuses on Liverpool’s import and export trade, archaeological finds and recent discoveries, as well as touching on the city’s involvement with the Transatlantic slave trade.
