Port Sunlight River Park

Port Sunlight River Park is a 30 hectare green space, park and wetland reclaimed from a former landfill site with a 37m high hill offering unrivalled views across the Mersey, Wirral and North Wales.

It is a stunning green space turning what was once a closed area into a public park with nearly 3 miles of footpaths to enjoy. The site borders the former Bromborough dock with historic connections to Port Sunlight village and Lever’s factory; and the operational Mersey Wharf. The park was completed and opened in 2014 when the Land Trust appointed Wirral Autistic Society, now known as Autism Together, as the managing agent. The Land Trust ensures the site is managed for the benefit of communities and wildlife as well as to attract visitors.

*The ranger here recently won 'Ranger of the Year' at the Landtrust Awards.

Visitors can look at the magnificent views; watch ships on Mersey and at the dock, go bird watching, enjoy the sculptures, picnic, use the cycle hub, cycle and take part in the geocache trail.

Accessibility: Two disabled parking spaces in accessible car park. Additional disabled parking available by arrangement. All paths well surfaced. Flat routes available. Accessible paths shown on interpretation at entrance. Pedestrian entrance at Shorefields is via two flights of steps.

There is an annual programme of events. Please see the website.

Opening hours: dawn to dusk daily. Car park open 9-4 October to March; 9-6 April to September. Additional parking available on Dock Road North. There is also a pedestrian entrance at Shorefields.
