The Liver Bird Wings
No trip to Liverpool is complete without a photo in front of the Liver Bird Wings mural by local artist Paul Curtis. Find the wings in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle on Jamaica Street for an iconic photo to add to your Liverpool photo album.
There are lots of other street art murals in the city that would make for a great backdrop for your snaps too. Find the Jurgen Klopp mural, a Beatles mural and an Abbey Road mural all in the Baltic Triangle too!
Royal Liver Building 360
Head on a tour of Liverpool’s most iconic building with Royal Liver Building 360 for some amazing photo opportunities. You’ll be able to take in the stunning views across Liverpool from the 10th and 15th floors, immerse yourself in an audio-visual show inside the clocktower and get up close and personal with one of the famous clock faces. It’s a must-see for the whole family on a trip to the city.
If you’re not a fan of heights then a selfie from the ground with the iconic building in the background is a must too.
The Beatles Statue
The larger than life statues of the Fab Four are waiting for you to take your picture with them on Liverpool’s famous Waterfront. Find the four lads from Liverpool on Pier Head by the Liver Building where you’ll always see a crowd of people wanting to get the ultimate Beatles shot - and we can see why!
Liverpool Central Library
Stop off at Liverpool Central Library in St. Georges Quarter to explore one of the coolest libraries in the country. The Picton Reading room is like something off the set of Harry Potter, the roof terrace will give you stunning views over Liverpool and the Discovery Area will give the kids the chance to explore the world of literature.
Liverpool Cathedral
Liverpool Cathedral is Britain's largest Cathedral and the 5th largest in Europe so you know it’s going to be something pretty special inside and out. Head inside to take in the cavernous space and stunning architecture with beautiful features everywhere you look. See if you can spot the piece of light art of artist Tracy Emin for a great photo opportunity too.
The Bombed Out Church
St Luke’s Church, or the Bombed Out Church as the locals call it, sits proudly at the top of Bold Street and is a great spot for a photograph, especially if you get to head inside. The Church is known as the Bombed Out Church due to the damage its roof took during…. But the walls now house a space used for everything from cinema nights to beer festivals, art commissions and gigs.
The Liverpool Sign
Liverpool’s own version of the Hollywood sign sits in Liverpool ONE and is the perfect spot for a selfie. The large letters spelling out ‘Liverpool’ are regularly covered in designs by local artists but at the moment it has a bit of a Eurovision twist!
The Cavern Club
It doesn’t get much better than the most famous club in the world as a backdrop for your group photo. The Cavern Club on Mathew Street welcomed The Beatles to their stage 292 times during their early days and has been a must visit spot ever since. Head down into the basement to enjoy the live music or stand beneath the sign for the ultimate selfie.
The Royal Albert Dock
The Royal Albert Dock is the largest collection of Grade II listed buildings in the UK and is one of the top spots to visit in the city for photo opportunities. Walk around the Dock to take in the sights and sounds of the waterfront venue where you’ll find Liverpool Mountain, The Beatles Story, Tate Liverpool and the Maritime Museum. You’re spoilt for choice on backdrops for your photos here.
The Georgian Quarter
Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter is often used as the backdrop for blockbuster movies and popular TV shows so it’s the perfect place to grab a selfie to remember your trip to Liverpool. Take a walk down Hope Street and into the cobbled streets where you’ll find a range of traditional pubs, places to eat and Liverpool’s TWO Cathedrals!
St George's Hall
St George’s Hall is an incredible Grade I listed Neoclassical landmark in the city and is a sight to see in the city. Head over to take in the scale of the building and for a few photos for your album. Inside you’ll also find The History Whisperer, an interactive journey which tells the story of the history of the building and Homebaked and local cafe serving up the best homemade pies around!
The Dream
A short journey out of the city centre will take you to The Dream in St Helens. The 20 meter high sculpture was designed by world-renowned and award-winning artist, Jaume Plensa and takes the form of a young girl’s head in a dream light state.
The Liverpool Skyline
Liverpool’s skyline is known across the world and one of the best places to see it from is across the Mersey River from Wirral. Take the famous Mersey Ferry over to Birkenhead and take in the beautiful view. It’s amazing any time of day but if you catch a sunrise or sun set then you’re in for a treat.
Another Place
Take the train 15 minutes down the road to Waterloo Station for a day out at Crosby Beach to see Antony Gormley’s famous work, Another Place. The 100 life size cast iron statues of the artist are spread out across the coast line and make for some great selfie spots.
Formby Pinewoods
Another 20 minutes down the road you’ll find the National Trust’s Formby Pine Woods. Free to visit, the beautiful wooded area is the perfect place to explore with the family and has plenty of beautiful backdrops for a family photo. See if you can spot any squirrels here too!
