Royal Albert Dock is inviting visitors to experience Liverpool’s legendary club scene with a special projection celebrating 35 years of the city’s music, nightlife and culture.
Available to view until 2nd October, the façade of the Maritime Museum will be illuminated daily from 8pm to 10pm with imagery from In Clubland: 35 Summers of Love, an upcoming book by Liverpool photographer Mark McNulty. The exclusive preview documents the people, places and moments that have shaped the city’s clubbing culture from the 1980s onwards.
Best viewed from the inner quay, the projection offers the perfect backdrop for an evening at the dock. Visitors can make the most of the waterfront setting and enjoy a meal at one of the dock’s bars and restaurants, including Rosa’s Thai, Rudy’s Pizza, Lunyalita and more, which offer some of the best views of the projection while they dine.
To bring the projection to life, visitors can enjoy a free silent disco-style experience, with headphones available to use in The One O’Clock Gun until 26th September. A specially curated playlist by Mark McNulty provides the soundtrack, pairing photographs with the sounds of Liverpool’s nightlife.
The experience offers a chance to see Liverpool’s iconic club scene in a new setting, bringing together photography, music and the city’s cultural identity against one of its most recognisable waterfront landmarks.
