Holiday season is finally here, the weather is hotting up and the beer gardens are opening their doors for a summer of fun. Visiting Liverpool in the summer means you get to explore all the wonderful outdoor bars and restaurants to catch some rays and feel that Mersey breeze. From beer gardens, to rooftop bars and restaurants with incredible views, Liverpool is glorious in the sun!
To help you pick where to go we have put together some of the best spots in the city to enjoy the good weather and some incredible food and drink at the same time. Don’t forget the suncream!
GOODNESS GRACIOUS
Enjoy a drink at Goodness Gracious on the rooftop of Oh Me Oh My and take in some of the best views in Liverpool with a cocktail. Sitting directly opposite The Royal Liver Building, you couldn’t get a much better backdrop for a selfie in the city.
CRAZY PEDRO’S
Crazy Pedro’s roof terrace is a sun trap and the best place around to grab a cocktail with a slice of pizza. They do topping combinations you will have never seen before like ‘The Mac Daddy’ or ‘Fried Chicken and Waffle’ - perfect for an afternoon snack in the sun.
THE MERCHANT
The Merchant is a little hidden gem on Slater Street and has one of the coolest beer gardens around. The bar is popular due to their selection of gin and resident pizza makers, Nightcrawler Pizza. Grab a slice and a G&T and chill out in the sun.
PATTERSONS
Hidden down Gradwell Street Pattersons is certainly the place to visit for some of the best fried chicken around on a roof terrace in the sun. Serving everything from burgers, wings and buckets of chicken; your afternoon can’t really get much better than that, can it?
MOLOKO BAR
Moloko is nestled right in the middle of the city centre and has a outdoor drinking area that is perfect for some drinks in the sun. You definitely want to give their cocktails a go too if you’re a fan of the sweeter things in life.
MALUCO
Pull up a chair outside Santa Maluco on Castle Street and watch the world go by with a cocktail and one of their amazing pizzas. Buy by the slice, a whole pizza or try their rodizio style of serving which means they’ll bring samples of pizza over to you until you tell them to stop! It’s definitely worth the trip just to take in the atmosphere of Castle Street.
THE BALTIC MARKET
The Baltic Market is a trendy food and drink market inside a huge warehouse in the Baltic Triangle but in the summer the fun spills out onto their outdoor seating area. Bring the whole clan, dogs included, and soak up all the atmosphere the Baltic has to offer. Make sure you get down there early to get a seat because it’s one of the most popular places in the city!
BOTANICAL GARDEN
Between March and October the Botanical Garden is a sun trap hidden in the middle of the Baltic Triangle. With a cocktail menu to make your mouth water and a whole lot of gin, this is the place to head to for a lounge on their grass bleachers with a drink in the summer months.
DOCKLEAF
Dockleaf, another Baltic Triangle resident, has one of the coolest roof terraces around and makes for the perfect place for lunch and a drink in the sun. They also do roast dinners on a Sunday and show the football - we’ll definitely be heading there this Summer!
BIRDIES BBQ
Birdies BBQ gets the best of the rays in the Summer and is a brilliant space to grab a cold drink and some food on a Summer's day. Nestled at the back of Ghetto Golf and On Air, the long stretch of garden is always buzzing with people enjoying the weekend. We definitely recommend grabbing the suncream for this one.
KAZIMIER GARDEN
Kazimier Gardens is a little secret spot nestled into Seel Street; blink and you might miss it! The Gardens are open all year round, come rain or shine and offer seasonal drinks to either warm you up or cool you down. Whatever the weather it’s definitely one of the coolest spots around and a must for some al fresco drinks.
AMALIA
Head over to Amalia off Duke Street for award winning pizzas made like they’ve come straight out of Italy. Their sun trap courtyard is just off the beaten track but close enough to still enjoy all the action and an afternoon lunch under the blue skies.
THE PEN FACTORY
Tucked away below the ever popular Hope Street, The Pen Factory offers seasonal small plates and quality drinks. Their garden is also a little sun trap and is a relaxing place to chill out in the summer months.
BUYERS CLUB
Buyers Club’s garden is one of Liverpool’s hidden gems and a must to visit if you’re in the city during the Summer months. They play host to summer BBQs, big parties and outdoor DJ sets in their beautiful garden and it makes for a great spot for a coffee or an afternoon cocktail.
ROXY BALLROOM
For something a little different head over to Roxy Ballroom for table tennis, beer pong or a bit of pool and then head out onto the roof terrace for some drinks with a view. The fresh air will cool you down after the intense table tennis tournament inside!
FREE STATE KITCHEN
For a contemporary twist on American classics in a secret garden, head over to Free State Kitchen on Maryland Street. Serving up everything from mouth watering burgers, reuben sandwiches, wings and chowder. Your scouse version of America awaits!
MATOU
Head to Matou at Liverpool’s Ferry Terminal for innovative pan-Asian cuisine accompanied by breathtaking views of the River Mersey and Liverpool’s iconic Three Grace’s. Enjoy your lunch on a rooftop with some of the best views in the city and grab those Royal Liver Building selfies.
THE PUMPHOUSE
The Pumphouse is a cosy pub on the Royal Albert Dock and has a beer garden with some of the best views around. Grab a drink and some lunch whilst taking in views of the dock and Liverpool’s famous waterfront; there’s nothing better than watching the world go by in the sun.

For a slice of The Hamptons in the heart of Liverpool, head over to The Club House in Liverpool One for lunch in the sun. They have a huge terrace for the whole gang to spend an afternoon enjoying the lovely weather over good food and a drink.
YE CRACKE
For a pint in a piece of Liverpool’s music history, head over to Ye Cracke to enjoy a drink in the beer garden of the pub John Lennon used to frequent before his Beatles days. The traditional pub is a hidden gem up by Hope Street and a perfect spot to sit in the sun.

Berry Street favourites Red Door have just opened a new luxurious rooftop terrace! Sit by the firepit surrounded by lush greenery and sample their brand new cocktail menu whilst soaking up the sun.
