Liverpool’s vibrant food scene has loads of Italian restaurants you can head to when you’re in the mood for pasta and we’ve picked out some of the best ones to save you the trouble of searching.
IL FORNO
Head to Duke Street for a true taste of Italy in Liverpool. This award winning restaurant combines generations of Italian tradition with their own unique flair and with various menus to choose from, you can't really go wrong with heading here for some fine pasta.
AMALIA
This family run restaurant is the best place to go for a hearty home cooked bowl of pasta. A favourite amongst the locals, this Italian restaurant is hidden away behind Duke Street and makes for the perfect spot to stop off for lunch. With loads of pasta dishes to choose from and pizza that has been voted the best in England three times, you won't be disappointed.
CASA ITALIA
Casa Italia on Stanley Street has been serving the people of Liverpool the finest Italan food around for over 40 years. It’s that popular there are often queues outside the door to get in! With all your favourite pasta dishes made fresh every day, you’ll struggle to pick from the extensive menu but whatever you go for, it will always be the right choice.
It’s also been visited by the likes of Paul McCartney, Liam Gallagher and Kylie Minogue over the years so you know it must be good.
PASTA COSA
For a lunch time snack head over to Pasta Cosa on Castle Street for some Italian take out. Choose your pasta, sauce and toppings and they’ll put it all together for you to take out and enjoy on the streets of Liverpool.
CRUST
So Crust might be a pizza restaurant but that doesn't mean their pasta dishes should be ignored. The Bold Street favourite has all your favourite pasta with all your favourite sauces that will satisfy the whole family. It’s a great place to stop off whilst exploring the Ropewalks area of the city.
TRATTORIA 51
Serving up fresh Italian Food in the heart of Liverpool, Trattoria 51 uses classic Italian recipes passed down over generations to bring you a dinner that won’t disappoint. Think Lasagne, Spaghetti Bolognese, Penne with different sauces and everything in between.
OLIVE
Castle Street’s Olive is a great spot to stop off for pasta with a view of one of the city’s most impressive streets. Their Italian inspired menu has everything to satisfy your lunch time needs but their pasta is a must try.
GINO D’ACAMPO
Everyone’s favourite Italian chef Gino D’acampo brings his food heritage to Castle Street for an Italain treat. Reflecting the soul and character of Italy’s different regions, the menu offers a taste of the country’s amazing food and once you start digging in you’ll think you’re there yourself.
THE ITALIAN CLUB
Born from the love of good food, fine wine and family, The Italian Club on Bold Street is a firm favourite amongst the locals when they are in need of a good bowl of pasta. With everything from gnocchi to lasagna, ravioli and spaghetti on the menu, the whole family will enjoy it here.
THE ITALIAN CLUB FISH
The second venue from the team behind The Italian Club, The Italian Club Fish serves all your favourite pastas but with seafood as the star of the show. It’s the perfect place to go if you’re a lover of fish because you know they’re going to do it justice.
VILLA ROMANA
Find Villa Romana in the heart of the city for traditional home cooked Italian food. Their freshly made pasta comes in all shapes and sizes with a great wine menu to wash it all down with. It’s a great place to head for an evening meal out.
MARANTO’S
Lark Lane’s family run Maranto’s Italain restaurant is a favourite on the quirky lane. Find everything from pasta, pizza, fish, steaks and risotto on the menu for that classic Italian meal out after enjoying everything Lark Lane has to offer.
GUSTO
Gusto on the Royal Albert Dock is a great place for a special evening out taking in one of Liverpool’s most famous landmarks with a bowl of pasta. Their menu is mouthwatering but they recommend trying the Milanese Saffron Risotto, which we agree, sounds amazing.
SAN CARLO
Liverpool’s San Carlo is a bit different to the rest of their venues in that it’s not a theme restaurant but a highly lavish Italain venue for lovers of fine food. Their range of pasta and sauces will have you spoilt for choice and you’ll leave wanting to return back for more.
THE QUARTER
Find The Quarter on the cobbled streets of the Goergian Quarter and enjoy a bowl of pasta with views of one of Liverpool’s most beautiful areas. Sit outside in the summer months to soak up the sun and lunch won’t get much better.
