The city centre’s oldest building is the Bluecoat, a lively contemporary arts centre where art and people meet. With its gallery and events spaces, along with studios, café, bistro and garden, it’s a great place to explore.

Bluecoat Display Centre has built an international reputation as a home of contemporary craft and design, and has been selling, exhibiting and promoting work by outstanding designers and makers for over 60 years.

In Liverpool, art is part of life - no more so than at dot-art. From exhibitions at its city gallery to art classes and events such as Liverpool Art Fair, dot-art is a champion of art for everyone.

Port Sunlight on the Wirral peninsula is home to the Lady Lever Art Gallery. With its fine Victorian paintings, Wedgwood jasperware, Chinese ceramics and English furniture, the Lady Lever is an art-lover’s dream.

Every two years, Liverpool Biennial transforms the city into one giant gallery. As the UK’s biggest festival of contemporary art, it takes place in galleries, unexpected venues and outdoor spaces, and leaves a legacy of permanent artworks for Liverpool.

Edge Hill station is the world’s oldest passenger railway station and also home to Metal - a creative community hub that collaborates with artists from our city and beyond, curating events and projects for everyone.

Open Eye Gallery is one of the UK’s photography pioneers. Far more than just a gallery, it also collaborates worldwide, running projects, festivals and courses that put photography in the hands of everyone.

Back in the 19th century, many Liverpool merchants were avid art collectors, and Sudley House is an evocative time capsule that offers a unique chance to see one such collection in its original location.

Tate Liverpool has established a reputation for bold blockbuster exhibitions and bringing new perspectives to bear on the national collection. It also welcomes visitors of all ages to its workshops, talks and community projects.

Walker Art Gallery has been at the heart of Liverpool’s art world for almost 150 years, with its rich collection of European Renaissance paintings, Victorian greats and major 20th century works making it a favourite art destination.
